Frequently Asked Questions
Everything buyers ask us most often about authenticity, viewing a piece, shipping, returns and sizes. If your question is not here, message us on Instagram or write to info@antiqo.in.
Are the pieces at Antiqo authentic?
Yes. Every piece is carefully examined by our experts and verified by our team for authenticity, and each piece comes with a certificate of authentication. Each listing describes the piece as it is, including signs of age and wear. To learn how to judge a piece yourself, read our guide How to Identify an Original Antique.
Can I see a piece before I buy it?
Yes. Antiques and fine jewellery are best seen up close, so we offer a live video viewing of any piece with our team before you buy, and we are happy to send more photographs. You can also view pieces in person, by appointment. Message us on Instagram or write to info@antiqo.in to arrange a time.
Some pieces say “Price on request”. How do I get the price?
Message us on Instagram (@antiqo_india), on WhatsApp at +91 72319 51751, or by email at info@antiqo.in, with the name of the piece. We will reply with the price and more photographs, and you can ask us about holding the piece or arranging a live video viewing.
Do you ship across India, and is shipping free?
Yes. Shipping is free, and every order is shipped fully insured to any address in India, whatever the number of pieces. We currently ship within India only, because antiques more than 100 years old cannot be taken out of the country under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972. Full details are in our Shipping & Delivery Policy.
How long does delivery take, and how is my order packed?
Orders are dispatched within 3–5 business days of payment being confirmed, and are usually delivered within 5–10 business days after dispatch, depending on your location. Every piece is checked, photographed and packed by hand in protective, multi-layer packaging, and every shipment is insured until it reaches you. We send you the courier name and tracking number when your order is dispatched.
Can I return a piece?
If a piece is significantly different from its description or photographs, or it arrives damaged in transit, you may return it within 7 days of delivery for a full refund (for transit damage, please tell us within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs or an unboxing video). We do not accept returns for a change of mind, and normal signs of age and patina that are shown or described on the product page are not defects. If you later wish to part with a piece, our Lifetime Buyback Guarantee applies. For approved returns we pay the return shipping, and refunds are made to the original payment method within 5–7 business days of approval. Full terms are in our Returns, Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Can I cancel an order?
Yes, before it is dispatched. Email info@antiqo.in or message us with your order number and you will receive a full refund. Once an order has been dispatched it can no longer be cancelled. If the piece arrives damaged or not as described, see “Can I return a piece?”. For any other reason, the Lifetime Buyback Guarantee applies.
What is the Lifetime Buyback Guarantee?
Every piece you buy from Antiqo can be sold back to us at any time, with no expiry date. We pay according to the condition of the piece, and we confirm our price to you in writing after inspecting it; you are not obliged to accept. The guarantee belongs to the original buyer and cannot be passed on. If you accept, we pay you by bank transfer within 7 business days. To begin, send your order number and photographs on Instagram or by email, or read the full terms in our Returns, Refund & Cancellation Policy.
How do I choose my ring or bangle size?
Every ring page has an Indian ring-size selector (sizes 1 to 30, with inner diameters) and a short guide to measuring your finger. Choose your size before adding the ring to your cart. Because each piece is one of a kind, we confirm the fit with you before dispatch. Our Basra pearl bangles can be made to order in sizes 2.2 to 2.7.
What are Basra pearls?
Basra pearls are natural pearls from the warm waters of the Persian Gulf. “Basra” became the trade name for natural Gulf pearls because the port city of Basra was one of the great pearl-trading points. A natural pearl forms inside a wild oyster without human help, which sets it apart from a cultured pearl. Read more in What Are Basra Pearls? and Natural vs Cultured Pearls.
What is a Ravi Varma oleograph?
An oleograph is a colour lithograph, printed from several stones (one for each colour) and then varnished so that it resembles an oil painting. Raja Ravi Varma set up his press in 1894 to reproduce his paintings as oleographs for ordinary homes. Every oleograph in our Ravi Varma Gallery is listed with its subject and size. See Raja Ravi Varma Oleographs: A Collector’s Guide.
How do I pay for an order, and what if my payment fails?
Payment is taken securely at checkout through PhonePe, and the payment options available to you are shown there. If a payment fails or times out, the order is not confirmed and the piece is released again, so you can simply try once more. If money has been deducted from your account but you see no order confirmation, please message us on Instagram or write to info@antiqo.in with the date and time of the payment, and we will check it with you. Your bank normally returns a failed payment to your account on its own within a few working days.
Can I send a piece as a gift to someone else?
Yes. We deliver to any address in India, so you can enter the recipient’s address as the delivery address at checkout. Every piece is packed with care and shipped fully insured at no extra charge. If you would like to arrange anything special for a gift, message us on Instagram or write to info@antiqo.in before you order.
How do I look after Basra pearls and emeralds?
Pearls and emeralds are delicate. Put your jewellery on after perfume, hair spray and cosmetics, and take it off before bathing or swimming. Wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing and store it separately in a soft cloth pouch, away from harder jewellery that can scratch it. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, harsh chemicals and heat. Strung pieces are best checked by a jeweller from time to time so the thread can be renewed before it wears.
Where is Antiqo located?
Antiqo is based in Churu, Rajasthan, at Seth Tolaram Kothari Marg. We sell across India and welcome visitors by appointment. Request a visit on Instagram, or see our Contact page for directions.
