Description
The hasli is one of the great forms of Rajasthani jewellery: a rigid collar that sits close at the base of the neck. A smooth tubular back opens on a screw fitting to a broad front worked in jadau — rows of kundan-set stones, leaf and almond motifs, oval cabochons and a large faceted red stone at the centre, framed by two birds.
Both edges are bordered with strands of tiny Basra seed pearls. Eleven drops hang from the lower edge, each with a red bead, a pear-shaped kundan stone and a cluster of seed pearls and blue beads. The reverse shows the hand-pierced back plate.
